Everyone slept in today, but we woke up ready to rock the gym!
Before we actually headed to the gym, we decided to head up to Route 4 and look around a little. While we were exploring, we came across a Minccino. Thanks to some careful attacking we managed to catch it and add it to the Crew. I named him Niles. He and Frascher have been hanging out a lot since he joined the Crew. It’s like they were brothers in a past life or something, but as long as the Crew’s happy, it’s all good.
After letting Niles have some time to hang out with the rest of the Crew and get to know them, we headed back to the gym to challenge Burgh. It turned out that he happened to use bugs. Troust and Drascher were almost too excited about this, knowing that they’d have to upperhand. I couldn’t blame them, though. We all wanted the win.
The first thing that struck me when we walked in was that the entire gym was full of spiderwebs and coccoons. Navigation was odd, to say the least, and the gym was filled to the brim with Harlequin trainers. What is it with this city and these clowns? Seriously. I also happened across one of them hiding in one of the cocoons. That gym is just…weird.
One of the Harlequin trainers proved to be more dangerous than I’d anticipated.
He opened the battle with a Dwebble, and I, of course, sent Troust in to have his fun. Things were going well, Troust had the fight in the bag. We could tell by looking at the Dwebble that anything more than a stiff breeze would knock it out, so all Troust had to do was get his last hit in and call it a day.
That wasn’t what happened, though.
Before we knew what was going on, Troust had been crushed by an onslaught of a rocks.
He was gone. Another core member of the Crew, just…gone.
I sent Frascher in and he made short work of the Dwebble. All it took was his anger combined with a flame charge to put the Dwebble down for good. The trainer’s Swadloon didn’t fair any better. It got the same unstoppable, rage-filled charge that its teammate received.
From there we went back to the Pokecenter. We all took the loss of Troust very hard, myself and Frascher especially. We’d known Troust the longest. Sure, he was pretty spaced out most of the time, but when it came to doing what needed to be done, we could count on him. For now, we’re going to hold a funeral for him.
We’ll head back to the gym tomorrow. None of us want to be there right now.
Troust Entries: 2-8
I actually put the game down for about three days when Troust died. He was easily one of my favorites. Not only because he survived for so long, but I’d never had a Pidove before and he really grew on me with his derpy face and Godlike battle prowess. Goodnight, sweet prince.
Will I ever have more than four members in the Crew for more than an single entry? I guess you’ll just have to check back for the next one to find out!
