Today we headed back to the Aspertia gym to challenge Cheren. It went like this…
Morrigan took the lead against his Patrat. Cheren didn’t seem worried by Morrigan’s constant assault as he kept ordering his Patrat to get worked up before finally telling it to attack, and when it did, it blew her away like a toy. Frascher and Gozer looked over to her as I shouted for her to get up, but all she did was lay there.
It hit us – she was dead. She may not have been too well liked by the rest of the Crew, but no one wanted this. Frascher and Gozer seemed to burn with fury and anger, both of them ready to take on the Patrat.
I let Gozer take the lead, and she charged the weakened Patrat in a rage. They exchanged tackles until Gozer critically wounded the Patrat and put it down for good, but she didn’t come out completely unscathed so I called her back when Cheren sent out his Lillipup.
Out came Troust, aloof as always, it took him being tackled to even realize something was going on. Once he knew what was going on, he slammed that pup around with massive gusts of wind. Unfortunately the pup managed to nearly kill him with a massive bite, so I brought him back and sent Frascher in.
Frascher took a few hard knocks before leaving the pup with a burn. I knew I had to call him back, there was no way I was about to lose another one of the Crew to some mangy Mareep-herding mutt, and Gozer went in. She launched herself at the pup, and full of piss and vinegar, she tackled it to the floor and let the burn finish it off.
Cheren congratulated us on the win, but it was bittersweet.
We’d won, but at the cost of a friend.
Was a shiny badge really worth the price? I’m still not sure, but now we’ll to press in honor of Morrigan.
In the mean time, we’re staying at the Pokecenter, and recovering from the battle. Our next stop in Virbank City, it’ll be nice to get away from Floccesy.
Also, we ran into Bianca after the battle. Apparently she and Cheren know each other. They seemed pretty awkward together. Anyway, like I said, it’s time to rest, relax, and mourn.
And that brings this entry to a close. Be sure to come back for the next entry to see how the Crew carries on after the loss of their friend.
